TradingView Desktop Keyboard Shortcuts: Double Your Charting Speed
Shortcuts compound: two seconds saved per action, hundreds of actions a day. These are the highest-frequency ones, worth learning first.
High-frequency shortcuts
| Action | How |
|---|---|
| Switch timeframe | Type the value and Enter: 5=5m, 1D=daily, 1W=weekly |
| Switch symbol | Type the ticker and Enter, e.g. BTCUSD, AAPL |
| Create alert | Alt + A (Mac: ⌥ + A) |
| Screenshot | Alt + S, generates a shareable image |
| Undo / redo drawing | Ctrl + Z / Ctrl + Y |
| Move through watchlist | Arrow ↑ ↓ (focus on the watchlist) |
| Full-screen chart | Shift + F, Esc to exit |
Two underrated habits
- Type the ticker to switch symbols — far faster than scrolling the watchlist; over 30 symbols the difference is an order of magnitude;
- Hit Ctrl+Z right after a drawing to confirm the undo stack works, before building complex structure — beats deleting ten lines by hand.
The desktop bonus
Desktop shortcuts are system-level: the app responds even in the background, and with multi-monitor tear-off, left hand on the keyboard switching symbols and right hand on the mouse drawing is the smoothest charting posture. In a browser some combos get hijacked by the browser itself (Ctrl+W closes the tab); the desktop app doesn't have that problem.
Tip: the full key map is in the in-app help menu. Drill the seven above into muscle memory first — they cover 90% of daily work.
