Using the TradingView Screener: Scan for Strong Stocks and Hot Coins
A watchlist is "watch the known"; the screener is "find the unknown." TradingView's screener covers stocks, crypto and forex — same logic: set conditions → get a list → move winners to the watchlist.
Open and basic use
- Open the screener from the bottom panel (or product menu) and pick a market: stocks / crypto / forex;
- Click filters to add rules; conditions combine with AND;
- Click a column header to sort, double-click any result to jump to its chart — with a desktop linked window, screener on a side screen, click a row and the main screen charts it: a very fast way to scan.
Two combos that last a long time
Strong-stock template (trend following):
- Price > 90% of the 52-week high (a step from new highs);
- Price above the 50-day and 200-day MAs;
- A floor on average dollar volume (keep illiquid names out);
- Relative volume today > 1.5 (money is paying attention today).
Oversold-bounce watch (mean reversion):
- RSI(14) < 30;
- Price still above the 200-day MA (only hunt oversold within a long-term uptrend);
- More than 2 weeks from earnings (avoid event landmines).
Save and a daily flow
Save the combo as a screen. A practical rhythm: run the template after the close → drop the 3–5 that qualify into a "watch" group → chart each and cut → for survivors, mark levels and set alerts. From screen to alert, one pipeline, 20 minutes a day.
Tip: fewer conditions beat more — past six or seven, what you screen out isn't "good candidates" but "names that happen to satisfy all your biases."
